Terms of Use
Last updated: 28 October 2026
For kids: Have fun and be kind. Write your own stories, keep your Family key secret, and never type your full name, school, address or phone number.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between Storynook Kids (“we”, “us”), which runs Storynook at www.storynook.kids, and the parent, carer or teacher who uses Storynook or lets a child use it (“you”). By using Storynook you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
Children may use Storynook only with the permission of a parent, carer or teacher, who accepts these terms for them and is responsible for how they use it.
This is a test version shared with families and friends. Features, limits and these terms may change as we improve it.
2. The free version
The free version needs no account. It includes stories of up to 250 characters, the first scene of a play, a short Story Builder story, one drawing idea, 2 borders, 10 starter stickers and up to 3 books on the bookshelf. We may change the free limits.
3. Family keys
- A Family key opens every feature for one household, usually for 12 months, on up to 3 devices at a time. You can remove a device to add a new one.
- During the test version, Family keys are given out by us. Buying keys online is not available yet.
- Keys are for your household only. Please do not share, sell or post a key. We may switch off a key that is shared or misused.
- Anyone with your key can use it, so keep it safe.
4. Using Storynook safely
You and your child agree not to:
- type real full names, addresses, schools, phone numbers or other personal details of anyone;
- write content that is hateful, sexual, violent, bullying or against the law, or try to get around the safety check;
- copy, overload, attack or take apart the website, or use bots or automated tools.
We may block content, limit use or switch off a key if these rules are broken.
5. Your stories
- Your child owns their stories and drawings. We do not claim any ownership of them.
- You let us send a story to our AI helper only to create the result you asked for. We do not publish, sell or keep your stories, or use them to train AI.
- You may print, share and use the polished stories, plays and book pages however you like.
- The Storynook name, logo, stickers, borders and website design belong to us. You may use them in your child’s books for personal and classroom use.
6. Saving your work
Stories, book pages and drawing photos are saved only in the browser on your device. Clearing browser data, using a private window, or changing device or browser can delete them, and we cannot get them back. Please print or copy anything important.
7. The AI helper
AI results can contain mistakes or something unexpected, and may be similar to results made for other people. We use a safety check, but no filter is perfect. A grown-up should look over AI results. Please tell us about anything worrying at storynookkids@outlook.com.
8. Availability and responsibility
- We try to keep Storynook running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and we may change or remove features.
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.
- Apart from those rights, and as far as the law allows, Storynook is provided “as is”, and we are not responsible for lost stories or indirect losses.
9. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
